Description The course Infection, inflammation and cancer provides a comprehensive theoretical basis to the understanding of novel paradigms and emerging areas of research in the field of infection diseases, inflammation and cancer. The course will cover topics such as mechanisms of initiation of inflammation, perception of inflammation, the role of inflammation in cancer initiation and progression and novel pathogens and emerging resistance in infection diseases. Emphasis will be put on highlighting the significance of recently acquired knowledge in these areas and its relevance to experimental research and clinical medicine.
Training objectives The overall objective is to get familiar with the key concepts of the research sub-topics. Special emphasis will be put on experimental approaches in these fields of research, including experimental design, experimental animal and human models, in vitro and in vivo experimental settings. Examples of urgent and important new research questions may be:
    1. Immunotherapy Research
    2. Microbial Research
    3. Bacterial Immunity Research
    4. Malaria Immunity Research
    5. Viral Immunity Research
    6. Stem Cells and Cancer?
    7. Development of Immunity
    8. Neuroimmunology
    9. Metall Allergies
