Navigating your Postdoc Career
The postdoctoral years are a crucial stage of the academic career pathway. Each individual researcher's disciplinary background and personal circumstances further modify the challenges and opportunities faced during this time. The SPR recognises this and is therefore piloting an event series designed to support the varied research journeys of UniFr postdocs.
Practical details:
All events will be held in English, and you will need to sign up in advance (see details below). Participant numbers are limited; therefore, we rely on your fairness and ask you to only sign up for events you intend to attend in full and in person. If you cannot attend an event you signed up for, let us know as early as possible. All events will include a social element (Apéro, lunch…) designed to give you the opportunity to meet and exchange with your peers away from the day-to-day pressures of your working lives. These social occasions are integral parts of these events, and we ask you not to skip them.

Juggling Parenthood and Academia: Exploring Individual Strategies and Developing Collective Practices, May 2nd, 2024, 14:00-17:00
Julia Nentwich is an Associate Professor in Psychology at the University of St. Gallen. She researches inclusion, equality and change in organisations. Her most recent project on gender-inclusive leadership practices has garnered significant attention not only within academia but also from the private sector. With “Leaders for Equality” she and her team are empowering (male) managers and professors fostering the cultural change needed.
Prof. Nentwich will come to the University of Fribourg to host a workshop for postdoctoral researchers. She will present her research findings on gender equality and academic careers. We will then reflect on our experiences as postdoctoral researchers, parents, and academics, and engage in meaningful discussions with our peers about possible solutions and ways forward for families and parents working in academia. Don't miss out on this opportunity to learn from an expert and network with like-minded individuals.
The workshop will take place on 2 May 2024 from 2-5 pm (including networking Apéro) in the Pavillon Vert, Campus Pérolles.
