University of Fribourg offers veraiety of funding possibilities to cover publications, matching funds, teaching relief, prparation for bigger projects, promoting early-career researchers and more.

The Research Promotion Service is responsible for the management of the following internal Unifr funding programmes: 

Centenary Research Fund 

The aim of the University of Fribourg Centenary Research Fund is to support research activities at the University of Fribourg that contribute to its intellectual influence. A financial contribution of up to CHF 7,000 may be granted for scientific research, scientific exchange, proof of concept and more.

Doc.Mobility

The Doc.Mobility scholarships are aimed at PhD students at the Unifr (who are not supported by the SNSF) who wish to strengthen their academic CV with a scientific stay in a research institute abroad before returning to complete their thesis at our institution.

Research Pool

The Research Pool  is aimed at stimulating research at the University of Fribourg by supporting projects that cannot be financed by third-party funding. It thus acts as a complementary instrument to such external programs as those of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). A maximum of CHF 70,000 can be granted.

Open Access Fund

The Fund for the support of Open Access Publications  if no other funding is available. Researchers who are at least 50% employed and PhD students at the University of Fribourg can benefit from the funding.

More Internal Fundings

The university is offering a variety of other internal funding to enable researchers from all stages of their careers, to conduct research, participate and present in international events and publish their work. Some of those fundings are listed below:

 

  • International Relations Office - The University of Fribourg offers an impressive selection of exchange programmes with partner universities in Switzerland, Europe, Asia and across the Atlantic.IRO 
  • CSWM - The CSWM is the body of scientific collaborators of the University of Fribourg. It represents their professional and scientific interests with political authorities and in the public sphere. the CSWM offers financial support for support of projects and events.CSWM 
  • Publication Funding - The University Council and the Pro Universitate Friburgensi Foundation allocate an amount each year to scientific publications of the University of Fribourg.Publication Fund through UniFr Council
