Description This seminar explores the nexus of global change, development and ethics from a Human Geography perspective. It addresses this nexus both theoretically (e.g., post-structural theory, post-colonial theory) as well as topically (e.g., forced migration, social movements, ethical consumption) by means of reading, analysing and debating new and/or key scientific publications pertaining to these fields. The seminar aims at a better understanding of recent and ongoing shifts in the politics of globalisation, discourses and practices of aid, representation and dynamics of populations, transnational affective states and joint actions, and the ethical issues inherent to, or, even driving these changes. Training objectives Subject: The focus of the module is on the main characteristics, effects and ethical problems of globalization and development on global – regional – local scales.
Learning outcomes: On successful completion of the module, you will be able to:
- question the concepts used in the scientific literature on globalization and development
