Biography

I am a professor in the social sciences Department of the University of Fribourg since 2005. I was trained in political sciences and in sociology, with a socio-historical perspective. Based on my previous work on nation-state and national identity building, my current research interest is in sociology of professions and of public policies.

I initially led a research on politcal socialisation, considering how primary socialisation and secondary socialisation at work combine, in case of engineers, farmers and human resources directors. Among my recent funded projects, one studies the reforms of veterinary public health and food safety. It examines how professional-bureaucrats involved in these reforms faced current problems, especially antimicrobial resistance. From the perspective of the sociology of profession I am now studying the transformations of professional groups at the age of the digital plateformes, with hostel sector as a case study

Tu sum up, my research field and skills are at the crossroad between sociology of professions / of work and sociology of state/ public action.
