Biography

Anja Früh received her PhD in European Studies from the University of Freiburg (UNIFR, CH) in 2022. Between 2009 and 2023 she worked for the Chair of European Studies at UNIFR. Her research focuses on processes of social, political and cultural change in Europe after 1989: these include processes of Europeanisation at the intersection of memory politics, the musealization of everyday culture in the GDR, institutional & political change in ethnographic state museums, and urban change & migration. She also holds a Master's degree in European Ethnology, Contemporary History and German Linguistics from the Humboldt University in Berlin. Interested in the museum as a forum of social debate and as a place of production and dissemination of scientific research, she has also carried out practical work and research for the German Historical Museum in Berlin, the German Hygiene Museum in Dresden the Jewish Museum in Vienna, and the Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilizations in Marseille.
