Teachers Description In this advanced lecture, a broad overview of theories and models of media use, media exposure and media effects will be presented and discussed. This applies to substantive and methodological differentiation and expansion. We will also address special and current phenomena in media exposure and media effects. We will approach studies and theories from a variety of different critical, theoretical, and methodological perspectives. Half of each session will be the introductory part by the course leader. The second part of each sessing will be filled with group-presentions about a current phenomenon/ussue/topic/paper, discussions about that paper as well as formal review/response to the paper & presentation by student teams. Training objectives Repeat, consolidate and broaden important theories of media use, media exposure and media effects. Discuss and reflect on exemplary studies based on your presentations. Transfer theories and results on current phenomena of media use, media exposure and media effects. Comments Please be prepared and accept that the lecture is biparted: One part will be the classic lecture format, the second will be closer to the form of a seminar where presentations, discussion and interactions are required and welcome.
