ERASMUS+ at Unifr
Erasmus+ is the European Union's programme for promoting education, training, youth, and sport, facilitating exchange, mobility, and international cooperation in these areas. The Swiss Federal Council aims at an association with Erasmus+ from 2027/28 onwards. More information is available on Erasmus+ in Switzerland.
The question of whether Switzerland will actually become a full programme country in Erasmus+ should be clarified by the end of 2026. Only then will it be known whether study exchanges in the 2027/28 academic year will take place under the SEMP programme or under Erasmus+. Only then will it be known whether study exchanges in the 2027 (28 academic year will take place under the SEMP programme or under Erasmus+. In the meantime, applications for an exchange stay in Europe in 2027/28 will be possible via the usual procedure on MyUnifr (deadlines will remain unchanged).
What would change with Erasmus+ for outgoing students doing an exchange stay in Europe:
- Grant amount: the exact amount has not yet been determined, but it is expected to be higher than the SEMP grant. The grant might be paid in euros.
- Possibility of top-ups: in addition to the grant, top-ups will be available, for example for environmentally friendly travel or for students with special needs.
- Grant calculation: the grant is calculated based on the exact number of days, including language courses or welcome weeks prior to the start of the semester as well as the examination period.
- Certificate of Attendance: this document must be completed by the host institution and submitted to Unifr.
- Adaptation of the mobility process on MyUnifr
- Access to numerous additional services: Online Language Support, Erasmus+ App, etc.
