Learning Agreement
Before your arrival, you are required to prepare a Learning Agreement listing the courses you plan to take at the University of Fribourg.
Course Selection
When selecting your courses and completing the Learning Agreement, please ensure that:
- No timetable conflicts occur (overlapping days or class times)
- You may choose courses from all faculties (subject to approval by the respective study advisor)
- You select a majority of courses in the field of study corresponding to the exchange agreement you were nominated through
If your course selection does not meet this requirement, please contact us in advance to discuss your situation.
Workload Requirements
- A standard workload at University of Fribourg is 30 ECTS credits per semester
- Your Learning Agreement must include at least 15 ECTS credits

Please send your signed Learning Agreement to the IRO: international-incoming@unifr.ch.

Learning Agreement before your arrival
Before your arrival in Fribourg, please ensure that your Learning Agreement is fully signed by all required parties:
- by you
- by your home university
For the University of Fribourg: The International Relations Office will contact the relevant study advisors directly to obtain their signatures before your arrival. -
Changes to the Learning Agreement: after your arrival
If you need to modify your Learning Agreement after your arrival, please follow the steps below:
Procedure
Step 1: Prepare your changes
- For minor changes, use the form Changes to the Learning Agreement
- If you intend to change most of your courses, please create a new Learning Agreement
Step 2: Obtain approval
- Contact the study advisor at University of Fribourg responsible for your programme
- This person will review and sign your changes
If you are taking courses in different departments, you must contact the study advisor of each department (see chapter “Study and mobility coordinators”)
Important
- After your arrival, the International Relations Office is not authorised to sign your Learning Agreement or any changes
- Signatures must be obtained from the relevant department or faculty
Special case: Master students (Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences)
- Once your changes have been approved by the study advisor(s)
- Please contact the relevant department(s) to register for your courses
Step 3: Inform your home university
Send your updated Learning Agreement / Changes to your home university.
