    Description

This course is for researchers and academic employees who would like to improve their public speaking and oral presentation skills (this course is not open to Masters and Bachelor students). If you are an experienced presenter you will have the opportunity to hone your presentation skills in terms of language use and effective presentation methods, as well as your ability to connect with a wider audience from different backgrounds. If you have not yet presented, this is a chance for you to practice presenting in a supportive environment and receive constructive feedback from your peers and the tutor. You will also benefit from the opportunity to engage and share information with peers about your respective disciplines.

    Training objectives

This course is highly interactive so that participants receive as much practice speaking English as possible. The course aims to make your speech more concise, more compelling, and more appropriate for presenting publicly. You will be encouraged  to use English more critically, creatively and precisely.

You will regularly give mini-presentations (5 minutes) focused on fine-tuning discrete skills before working up to a longer presentation suitable for a general audience. You will  be asked to reflect on your strengths and weaknesses on an ongoing basis, and the progress that you make during the course. Giving constructive peer feedback is considered an integral part of this course as well. We will also hold a debate or panel discussion.
