Le cours examine la succession de conflits en Afghanistan sous le prisme international. Commençant l’analyse à la période charnière de 1978-1980 qui a vu l’Afghanistan subir le triple choc de la révolution Islamique en Iran, de la révolution marxiste-léniniste de Parti démocratique populaire d'Afghanistan, et de l’intervention soviétique, le cours trace des continuités et des ruptures de la guerre froide à la période actuelle. Il se concentre sur des thèmes comme la montée de l’Islamisme, l’importance stratégique de l’Afghanistan pour les États-Unis et l’URSS/ Russie, la fluidité des alliances entre acteurs internationaux et acteurs afghans, et les parallèles existantes entre les interventions soviétiques et américaines en Afghanistan. Prenant l’exemple de l’Afghanistan, il montre ainsi l’influence toujours prégnante des évènements de la guerre froide sur les dynamiques qui animent le monde d’aujourd’hui.

Examen

• Examen oral sur un thème préparé à l’avance et validé par l’enseignant sur proposition en lien avec le cours
• Travail continu avec des présentations (groupes de 23 étudiants) de 15 min en début de cours pour les séances 3-11
