Biography

Kathrin von Allmen is a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at the University of Fribourg Environmental Sciences and Humanities Institute (UniFR_ESH) since April 2023. Previously, she was a PhD candidate at the Department of Philosophy and the Department of Sociology at the University of Zurich, where she wrote a dissertation on the concept and justification of remedial responsibility in the context of climate change. During her doctoral studies, she completed research stays at Columbia University, Northeastern University, and Humboldt University of Berlin. Kathrin von Allmen researches and publishes on topics in climate ethics, (climate) justice, moral philosophy, and feminist philosophy. She teaches at the UniFR_ESH Institute in the area of climate and environmental ethics and is an external lecturer at the Department of Sociology of the University of Zurich where she teaches in the area of philosophy of science. Since 2019, Kathrin von Allmen has been serving as a board member and treasurer for the Society for Women* in Philosophy Switzerland, and since 2021, she has been a board member for the Philosophische Gesellschaft Bern (krino).

Prior to her PhD, Kathrin von Allmen obtained a Master's degree in Political, Legal, and Economic Philosophy and a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy and General Ecology from the University of Bern.
