Biography

Born in Fribourg in 1989; Studies in History (specializing in ancient and medieval history) and Sciences of Religions at the University of Fribourg from 2010 to 2015 (Master's degree in 2015), PhD (obtained in June 2021). His approach is to highlight an interconnected history of the medieval West and East. His research and subjects cover the history of the papacy and the medieval Church, the history of symbolic and material representations of power in medieval society, and Byzantine civilization and its interconnection with the medieval West. He completed his PhD on the construction and transformation of the symbolic and material identity of the cardinalate in the late Middle Ages, under the supervision of Professor Hans-Joachim Schmidt.
