    Description

    Summary: concepts of science, social constructivism, discourse and critical theory and methodological anarchism f.e. will be presented trough text readings and extensive discussion during the seminar. This seminar gives an orientation in the different main theories used and debated in social sciences and human geography.

    Training objectives

    Subject: The seminar introduces in theories of knowledge and epistemology in order to sensitize geography students to different approaches of truth, reality and its methodological implications.
    Learning outcomes: On successful completion of the module, you will be able to:
    - identify logics of theoretical and methodological approaches
    - differentiate between ontological foundations and epistemological approaches in social sciences
    - relate understandings of truth and social theories used in Geography
