    Training objectives In this course students will learn the basics of statistical mechanics, such as ensemble theory, applications of quantum mechanics to statistical problems. Important concepts like bosons and fermions are treated as ideal gases and we shall discuss bose-einstein condensation phenomenon.
    The end result will allow students to have sound knowledge of the basic principles of quantum statistical mechanics, which is at the base of many further courses like condensed matter physics, super-conductivity etc.
