    Dem Seminar liegt die These zugrunde, dass sich Ethik und Normativität in der islamischen Tradition nicht jenseits der Gesellschaft entwickelt haben. Die Gesellschaft wurde hier vielmehr als entscheidender Referenzrahmen und geradezu als beurteilende Instanz stets wahrgenommen. Primär mit Blick auf die wirtschaftsethischen Konzeptionen dieser Tradition lässt sich konstatieren, dass Gesellschaft und Normativität sich gegenseitig formen. Die dem islamischen Recht immanente ethische Ausrichtung lässt sich in diesem Sinne auf die gesellschaftsorientierte Ausprägung von Normativität zurückführen. Das Verhältnis innerhalb dieses Dreiklangs thematisiert das Seminar im Kontext europäischer Gesellschaften. Neben der interdisziplinären Auseinandersetzung mit theoretischen Ansätzen werden praxisbezogene Themen untersucht, Hierbei reicht die Themenauswahl von Wirtschaftsethik (der Praxis von Islamic Finance) über Bioethik bis zu Alteritätsdiskursen in pluralen Gesellschaften.
