    Description

The idea of this lecture series is to introduce students into the design and engineering of fuzzy sets and systems. It is thought of a self-contained treatment of fuzzy systems engineering, offering conceptual fundamentals, design methodologies, development guidelines, and particular illustrative material. Throughout the lecture series, we thus emphasize on the direct applicability of the concepts being discussed, and historical and bibliographical aspects are included.

To deal with human-center systems, Lotfi A. Zadeh introduced fuzzy sets and systems, from where a wealth of theoretical developments, conceptual pursuits, algorithmic environments, and other applications have emerged. As a departure from current views on the subject, the lecture series presents fuzzy sets as an enabling technology whose impact, contributions, and methodology stretch beyond any specific discipline, making it applicable to researchers and practitioners in engineering, computer science and business. With this in mind, the series presents an up-to-date approach to fuzzy systems design and engineering. The result is a holistic view of fuzzy sets and systems as a fundamental component of computational intelligence and human-centric systems.

    Training objectives

On successful completion of this lecture series, the students will have…
    - …learned about key fuzzy systems design and engineering applied to business, government and society.
    - …become familiar with development methods within a small group to implement a fuzzy application.
    - …designed, engineered and presented a state-of-the-art fuzzy application.
