    Artificial intelligence (AI) is part of our lives. Its achievements, but also its paradoxes, challenge theology at its very core. On the one hand, it can legitimately assist research, facilitate access to sources, support translation and foster dialogue. On the other hand, it risks undermining the irreducible core of the theological act : thought as the subject’s engagement in dialogue with other disciplines, whilst respecting academic traditions. This latter consideration is of particular significance to us, for meaning cannot be derived outside the singular and the vulnerable; it cannot be disembodied.

    In this online seminar, we aim to challenge students to reflect theologically on the significance of AI for humanity. We have invited five researchers who have tackled these complex questions head-on.

     

    PLEASE NOTE: a good passive knowledge of the three languages of the seminar is required. The presentations will be delivered either in English, in German or in French. Each participant will be able to speak in their own language.

    Participation in the seminar requires the prior reading of five articles, which will be available in mid-October.
