    Description

This course enables Master’s students to deepen their knowledge of research design and data collection methods through hands-on experience. Building on students’ existing methodological knowledge, the course expands and further develops their competencies in planning empirical research and designing instruments for data collection with a focus on practice and training. Students learn how to systematically prepare and plan an empirical research project, with particular emphasis on the data collection phase. Working in small groups, they prepare and conduct interviews, surveys, and content analyses. In doing so, the specific characteristics of qualitative and quantitative research methods are taken into account.

    Training objectives

    Students are able to:

    • Select and implement an appropriate research method for a specific research interest, including choosing a suitable research design and developing corresponding data collection instruments.
    • Independently design quantitative and qualitative surveys in accordance with research ethics and high scientific standards.
    • Independently design quantitative and qualitative content analyses in accordance with research ethics and high scientific standards.
    • Implement measures to ensure research quality.
