Admission to the Master of Medicine programme

Admission to the Master degree programme is governed by the Ordinance on Admission Restrictions to the Master of Medicine (MMed) at the University of Freiburg. The ordinance stipulates that the number of study places is limited to 40. study places are prioritised to applicants who have successfully completed the Bachelor of Medicine (BMed) in Human Medicine at the University of Freiburg any remaining places will be allocated to applicants who have successfully completed a Bachelor of Medicine (BMed) in Human Medicine at another Swiss university and then to applicants who have successfully completed a Bachelor of Medicine (BMed) in Human Medicine at a recognised foreign university if there are more applications than available places within a category, places are allocated according to a selection procedure defined by Faculty guidelines.

• Admission to MMed for BMed students who are enrolled at the UniFR

  After completing their Bachelor degree, students continue their education at Master level in Fribourg or at one of the medical faculties in Switzerland with which the University of Fribourg has concluded a convention for the transfer of students.

  The number of study places in MMed at the University of Freiburg is limited to 40.

  In accordance with the inter-university conventions, the following places are available for Fribourg students on the Master programmes:

  • University of Basel: 20

  • University of Bern: at least 30

  • University of Zurich: at least 30

  • University of Lausanne: possible

  • Università della Svizzera italiana (USI): possible

  The allocation of study places in the MMed UniFR and the distribution of students to further universities takes place at the end of the second year of study.

• Admission to MMed for further applicants

  Applicants for the MMed UniFR must register with the Admissions and Enrolment Office by 15 February at the latest for the start of studies in the following autumn semester.
