Admission regulations for the Master’s programme

The admission to the Master of Science in Experimental Biomedical Research follows the conditions of admission of the University of Fribourg. Holders of a Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences awarded from a Swiss University can be admitted to the Master's degree course. The same applies to holders of a Bachelor's degree awarded by a foreign university, provided that the Bachelor's degree is recognized and considered equivalent by the University of Fribourg.

Special features for admission

Students, who fulfil the admission requirements of the University of Fribourg, will be further selected on the basis of an individual interview and their curriculum dossier. For details, please, refer to the study plan.

Admission procedure

This master operates a pre-selection of students. Admission is different depending on whether you have a Bachelors degree from the University of Fribourg or from another university.

  • Internal Applicants

    Applicants who are already enrolled at UniFR please proceed as follows:

    • Please, send your full application (including motivation letter, CV, two letters of references and the marks you have obtained so far during your Bachelor) to the Master EBR’s commission.
    • Applications for starting in the autumn semester open at the end of January each year. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until end of June and as long as places are available.
    • Decisions on applications will be communicated to candidates a soon as they are known (typically within 4 weeks after application).

  • External Applicants

    Applicants form another institution than the University of Fribourg please follow the admission procedure.
