Conference as part of the search for a professor in Orthopaedics.
Summary: This presentation includes a 10-minute teaching module on important orthopaedic conditions affecting the hip in childhood and adolescence (Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH), Morbus Perthes, and Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis (SCFE)), highlighting clinical signs, diagnostics, and management strategies to prevent long-term damage. It is followed by a 20-minute overview of the four pillars of my research, with specific examples pertaining to orthopaedic implant failure and revision arthroplasty, combining meta-analyses, biomechanical testing, and clinical trials. Emphasis is placed on patient and implant specific characteristics. Insight is provided into current projects including paediatric orthopaedic topics, as well as foot and hip disorders. Also, future plans are presented, with topics pertaining to imaging studies, digital learning tools and education research, among others.
