Prof. Manolescu receives prestigious 2021 Rollo Davidson Prize!
Prof. Ioan Manolescu (UniFR, Mathematics) has received the prestigious 2021 Rollo Davidson Prize which is awarded each year to one or more researchers in the early stages of their careers who are working in the field of probability.. Ioan Manolescu was recognised for his “outstanding work on critical systems in two dimensions, particularly the random cluster and Potts models.” He obtained his PhD under the supervision of Geoffrey Gimmett at the University of Cambridge in 2012, before working as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Geneva, in the group of Stanislav Smirnov and Hugo Duminil-Copin. He moved to the University of Fribourg in 2015, first as an Associate Professor, and then as a Full Professor since 2018.
