From Landscapes to Nightscapes: Spatio-Temporal Dynamics of Biodiversity and Species Interactions Under Global Change

General public Public lecture
01.06.2026 10:15 - 11:00
Onsite

Summary: Global environmental change is increasingly altering biodiversity, species interactions, and ecosystem functioning. Understanding these changes therefore represents a central challenge in animal ecology. At the macroecological scale, my research investigates how biodiversity changes across larger spatio-temporal scales due to human activity. By focusing primarily, but not exclusively on spatio-temporal dynamics of plant–invertebrate communities, I further explore underlying ecological processes of these changes. In particular, I investigate how biodiversity and direct and indirect interactions are modified by human activity, especially through land-use change, climate change, and artificial light at night. Finally, my research focuses on developing and improving conservation measures to mitigate these ecological consequences of global change.
