Major Programme (120 ECTS)
This curriculum applies to students starting their studies from 2026 onwards. Students who started their studies earlier will continue to follow the old curriculum.
The major programme in Communication and Media Research usually lasts three years and comprises the major branch courses listed below (120 ECTS) as well as a minor branch (60 ECTS). It is possible to select two small minor branches (30 ECTS each) instead of one large minor branch (60 ECTS).

- Lecture "Mass communication research - introductory course" (3 ECTS)
- Proseminar in media studies with proseminar paper (3+3 ECTS)
- Lecture "Social research methods: introduction" (3 ECTS)
- Lecture/exercise "Economic statistics I" incl. R workshop (4.5 ECTS)
- Advanced seminar with term paper (3+6 ECTS)
- Lecture "Social research methods: advanced course" (3 ECTS)
- Exercise "Social research methods" (3 ECTS)
- Lecture/exercise "Economic statistics II" incl. R workshop (4.5 ECTS)
In addition, two lectures of your choice from the following list (2 x 3 ECTS):
