Major Programme (90 ECTS)

The three-year Bachelor's programme in "Communication Sciences" consists of a compulsory main subject (90 ECTS) and secondary subjects (60 ECTS + 30 ECTS), which are presented here.

  • First year courses
    • Lecture "Sciences et théories de la communication" (3 ECTS)
    • Lecture "Effets et usages des médias et nouveaux médias" (3 ECTS)
    • Lecture "Statistiques I" (4.5 ECTS)
    • Lecture "Méthodes I" (3 ECTS)
    • Proseminar : "Techniques de travail" with proseminar paper (3+3 ECTS)
    • Exercise "Exercices Méthodes I" (1.5 ECTS)
    • Lecture "Communication politique" (3 ECTS)
    • Lecture "Communication stratégique" (3 ECTS)
    • Lecture "Statistiques II" (4.5 ECTS)
    • Cours « Méthodes II » (SP) 3 ECTS
    • Exercise "Exercices Méthodes II" (1.5 ECTS)

    Please note:

    • The seminar can only be taken after completion of the proseminar.
    • Methods I and Exercises Methods I must be taken in the same autumn semester; just as Methods II and Exercises
    • Methods II must be taken in the same spring semester.
    • All Methods and Exercises Methods courses must be taken in the same language.
    • Methods II and Exercises II can only be taken after the completion of Methods I and Exercises I.
    • The Library's "Compétences documentaires" course must be taken in addition to the Proseminar.

  • Second year courses
    • Seminar with seminar paper (3+6 ECTS)

      In the field of elective courses, 3 ECTS credits can be obtained on request following an internship (with a written internship report) in the field of media and communication.

    Students interested in obtaining a Bachelor's degree with a "bilingual" mention should find out the number of credits to be obtained for each language in accordance with the "Règlement du 19 mai 2014 sur l'organisation des études et des examens à la Faculté des Sciences Économiques et Sociales de l'Université de Fribourg" (to download under:https://www3.nifr.ch/apps/legal/fr/document/276090)
    To obtain ECTS credits, a marked test by written examination and/or written work must be provided in each individual teaching. The main subject is acquired when all the lessons have been passed and the Bachelor's work has been judged sufficient.
    In accordance with the "Règlement du 28 mai 2018 sur l'octroi des Bachelor of Arts à la Faculté des sciences économiques et sociales de l'Université de Fribourg:
    The 1st year must be successfully completed in a maximum of 4 semesters. A maximum of 6 ECTS may be awarded a mark of less than 4.0 provided that the weighted average is at least 4.0 for the 30 ECTS in tests in the 1st year. This 90 ECTS branch must be completed in a maximum of 12 semesters in total.
    A maximum of 9 ECTS may be awarded with a mark lower than 4.0, provided that the weighted average is at least 4.0 of the 45 ECTS in exams in Years 2 and 3, and that the seminar and Bachelor's work is passed.
