Professor Pascal Pichonnaz earned his doctoral degree (Ph.D.) under the direction of Professor Pierre Tercier and published his ‘Habilitation’, a large book on the Law of Set-off, after a research stay in Germany at Reinhard Zimmermann’s Chair.
He teaches Contract Law, European Consumer Law, Roman Law and European Private Law at the University of Fribourg. Professor Pichonnaz has been a visiting professor at the universities of Liège, Pisa, Glasgow, Clermont-Ferrand, Rome II, and Paris II, as well as at the Center for Transnational Legal Studies in London.
He is admitted to practice law and completed his LL.M. at the University of California (Berkeley). Professor Pichonnaz is co-author of numerous books and publications on national and international level and former president of the European Law Faculties Association. He is also active as an arbitrator in international and national disputes.
