Sarah Progin-Theuerkauf is a full Professor of EU Law and Migration Law at the University of Fribourg. She graduated from the University of Bonn (2003) and earned a PhD from the University of Fribourg (2006). After having passed the Bar Exam (Second State Exam) in Germany (2008), she worked as a lawyer for a law firm based in Zurich, before joining the University of Fribourg (2009). Sarah is Co-director of the Center for Migration Law, the Institute for European Law, the Center for European Studies, the Interdisciplinary Institute for Ethics and Human Rights, and the Swiss Center for Islam and Society. 

Since 2024, she has served as vice-rector for legal affairs, HR, and alumni of the University of Fribourg. Sarah has led several research projects on EU Migration Law and is an expert in Asylum Law, Foreigners Law, Human Rights Law, Internal Market Law, and Swiss-EU Bilateral Relations. She is the author of numerous scientific publications.
