He joined Sanofi Group in September 2002 after having worked in private practice in London, Frankfurt am Main (Germany) and Geneva (Switzerland), for about 12 years; he is a qualified Swiss lawyer and a solicitor (England & Wales). Alexander has completed undergraduate legal studies at the University of Geneva and his LLM in banking and finance law at Queen Mary University of London (formerly known as Queen Mary and Westfield).
His responsibilities within the Sanofi Group include, without territorial limitation: debt capital markets law, banking and finance law (including regulatory and derivatives), bank financings and structured finance (including off-balance sheet financings), aspects of the law of insurance and reinsurance (contractual and regulatory), financings of patent or other litigation, cash topics (cash centralization (including hedging and multilateral netting), payments on behalf of, etc.), any finance law question relating to external or internal growth or to divestitures, finance law in relation to real estate, industrial operations or joint ventures, trade finance (including questions relating to embargoes and economic sanctions), credits between enterprises, reverse factoring, aspects of English law of pension plans and related finance law (including regulatory), direct investment protection, and aspects of international monetary and economic law (excluding competition law).
Alexander is a member of the advisory council/advisory board of EFILA (efila.org) and Queen Mary University of London (CCLS). In February he shall be joining ELI (European Law Institute | ELI) as a Fellow thereof (onboarding procedure in progress). In 2023, International Financial Law Review have declared Alexander winner of their Market Makers Award for Europe. Alexander is of Hungarian origin, and a British and Swiss national.
