Prof. Dr. Carsten JUNGMANN is the Program Director at Bucerius Law School (Hamburg) where he, inter alia, coordinates the Diploma in Business Law Program at WHU-Otto Beisheim School of Management. In addition, he is a practicing lawyer and business mediator, formerly as a Managing Partner of the law firm DUVINAGE (Munich), today in his capacity as the Vice President Corporate Law, Governance & Structure of the BIRKENSTOCK Group (Linz am Rhein, Germany). Within the BIRKENSTOCK Group, he also serves as a Chairman of the Supervisory Board. Prof. Jungmann has studied at the universities of Edinburgh and Bonn, where he was employed at the Institute for Commercial and Business Law and completed his doctoral degree.
As a trainee solicitor, he has worked with the international law firm Hogan Lovells and with HSH Nordbank; clerked for Judge Buechel of the High Court of Hamburg; passed the bar exam of the High Court of Hamburg and obtained both a Master of Laws from Yale Law School (USA) and a Master of Science in Finance from the University of Leicester (UK). Prof. Jungmann spent a year as an academic visitor at London School of Economics and was a lecturer in law at the University of Surrey (UK) and at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich. He teaches corporate law and corporate governance in the Bucerius Master in Law and Business program and also in the Summer School on European Business Law of the University of Düsseldorf. Finally, he is the Academic Director of the Bucerius Compliance Officer Program.
