Law, Risk, and Resilience: Managing Supply Chains in a Turbulent World

Dr. Hans von Pfuhlstein (Dr. sc., MSc MTEC ETH) is a strategist and lecturer with in-depth expertise in strategy, risk management, innovation, and supply chain management. He holds a PhD in risk management and a Master of Science in Management, Technology, and Economics from ETH Zurich.

 

A defining part of his career is his international leadership experience in global logistics. At Kühne + Nagel Management AG, he served as Vice President and Head of Corporate Development, supporting the CEO and Chairman, driving corporate strategy, contributing to digital business transformation, and managing company-wide re-organization initiatives. He also led the global QSHE function (Quality, Safety & Health, Environment, Security) with functional leadership of 250 experts worldwide, giving him first-hand insight into governance, compliance, and operational risk in global supply chains.

 

He later became Chief Strategist and Business Unit Head at Hamilton Medical AG, combining strategic leadership with P&L responsibility. Since 2017, he has been a founding partner of The Strategists Network, advising companies on strategy and M&A.

 

His teaching at universities and in expert forums is based on extensive practical experience and academic work. He has published 14 academic articles, book chapters, and practitioner-oriented texts on supply chain risk management, resilience, digitalization, and corporate strategy. His publications often combine empirical research with case-based analysis from logistics and industrial contexts, focusing on how organizations manage uncertainty and systemic risk.
