Fulbright Grant Program for Students and Scholars for the 2027-2028 academic year

The Fulbright Foreign Student Program offers students with Swiss citizenship and English proficiency funding to pursue studies at the master’s or Ph.D. level. This can be done at any recognized institution of higher education in the United States in any field of study except medicine (not including Public Health or medical research), dentistry, and veterinary medicine. Candidates from universities of applied sciences and arts are particularly welcome to apply. The grants are four to ten months in length and not renewable. They are to be used toward the cost of tuition and other academic expenses. In general, a grant for one academic year is about $20,000.

The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program is a non-degree, post-doctoral award program for researchers, university lecturers and experts from academic institutions in Switzerland who wish to conduct post-doctoral research, lecture, or pursue combined lecturing and research in the United States. All candidates must currently be affiliated with one of the universities or research institutions in Switzerland. Candidates with a Bachelor's or Master's degree from universities of applied sciences and arts as well as candidates focusing on science, technology (e.g., AI, quantum, biotech), engineering, and mathematics are particularly encouraged to apply. Grants are available for periods between August 2027 and July 2028, ranging from three to ten months.

The application deadline for the two programs at swissuniversities is August 3, 2026.

Further information on the Fulbright Program is available on the swissuniversities's website.
