Doctor honoris causa to Professor Marie Claire Villeval
The Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Fribourg, on the recommendation of the Department of
Political Economy, awards the title of Doctor honoris causa to Professor Marie Claire Villeval, emeritus research director at the CNRS, within the GATE (University of Lyon) and recipient of the CNRS Silver Medal and the Maurice Allais Memorial Prize for Behavioural Sciences.
An internationally renowned researcher, Marie Claire Villeval has profoundly transformed our understanding of individual and collective behaviour, incentives, social norms and cooperation.
Her work, published in leading international journals, has had a considerable influence on the development of experimental and behavioural economics,shedding light in particular on the mechanisms of cooperation, trust, ethics,
leadership and decision-making within organisations.
