The VMI celebrates its 50th anniversary and looks ahead to the future
Since its foundation, VMI has supported nonprofit organizations through research, teaching, and executive education. Over the past five decades, the sector has undergone profound change: stakeholder expectations have become increasingly diverse, digital transformation has accelerated, and organizations are now expected to combine social impact with professionalism and innovation.
These developments were at the heart of the anniversary event. A central question guided the discussions:
What will the management of nonprofit organizations look like over the coming decades?
With this in mind, VMI is aligning its future activities in research, teaching, and executive education around six strategic focus areas:
- Nonprofit Management
- Entrepreneurial Leadership and Organizational Culture in the Nonprofit Sector
- Effective Leadership
- Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence
- Community and Solidarity
- Gender in Nonprofit Organizations
These themes reflect the key challenges that nonprofit organizations are already facing today and will continue to shape the sector in the years ahead. They provide the framework for advancing academic research, practice-oriented executive education, and knowledge transfer.
These six focus areas will also be at the heart of the next edition of VM Magazine, which will be published in September. Learn more at https://www.vmi.ch/de/vm-magazin/..
