Description

The specialisation programme in clinical and health psychology focuses on the current state of scientific knowledge in clinical and health psychology. It offers sound theoretical knowledge, analytical skills and an initial practical approach in the following areas:

  • Psychological disorders and other forms of psychological dysfunction, as well as their aetiology, diagnosis, classification and treatment.
  • Interaction between the psychological, biological and social determinants of physical and mental health, and daily behaviour and how to change it to promote health and prevent health problems.

The whole of life, from childhood to adulthood, is considered. The main themes are the conditions of psychological health, the relationships between levels of psychological and somatic functioning and illness, and the fundamental knowledge of the psychology of relationships and the family concerning aspects of psychological functioning and dysfunction.

 

Structure

The program is composed of two modules:

Interventions and diagnostic in clinical and health psychology (15 ECTS)

This module comprises teaching units providing basic and applied knowledge of how to carry out structured and standardised diagnoses according to international diagnostic systems, as well as various intervention approaches in clinical and health psychology.

The module is made up of 3 ECTS elective teaching units. To validate this module, students must validate teaching units for a minimum of 15 ECTS, including one teaching unit labelled ‘Diagnostics’ and another labelled ‘Psychopharmacology’. These labels are mentioned in the title of the teaching unit. The teaching units are offered in French, German or English.

Factors and processes in clinical and health psychology (15 ECTS)

This module comprises a wide range of teaching units that address processes and factors that are important for the onset, maintenance or treatment of mental disorders, or for various aspects of mental or somatic health, as well as their modification, maintenance or promotion, at different stages of life.

The module is made up of 3 ECTS elective teaching units. To validate this module, students must validate teaching units for a minimum of 15 ECTS. Teaching units are offered in French, German or English.
