Gene4All
We recently founded Gene4all to promote genomic research in LMICs.
We are actively involved in supporting TReND in Africa in science education and development on the African continent and Tom is the coordinator of TReND's genome editing programme and TReND Co-Director.
We organize Genome editing courses in different African countries and try to foster collaborations between scientist interested in genome editing worldwide. To specifically promote this technology in low-to-middle income countries, Tom co-founded Gene4All with a mission to democratize genomic research.
One of our most recent activities was to establish a training hub for zebrafish research in disease modelling in KwaZulu-Natal (SA).Here a short summary article about this work.
In the past, we helped to establish RT-LAMP based diagnostic capacities in Cameroon and Ghana as part of an international team including labs in both countries, Vienna, Cambridge, London and Germany. Updates on this project can be found here.
