• PhD Position in Public Economics

  At the Chair of Public Economics at the Department of Economics of the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences, University of Fribourg, we seek applications for a 100% PhD position with responsibilities as a research and teaching assistant, for up to 4 years, starting around September 2026. We conduct empirically oriented research in public economics, including topics related to public finances, regulation, political governance, and corporate networks. The successful candidate will work in an active research environment with close interaction with other members of the research team and the department.

  The Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) invites applications for a

  Professorship in Applied Microeconomics (Open Rank)

  at the Department of Economics. The expected start date is August 1 or September 1, 2027.

  The successful candidate will teach courses in French and English at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels. Two courses will be given in French in Microeconomics on the Bachelor’s level. The research profile as well as offered Master courses should fall within applied microeconomics. Possible areas include, for example, labour economics, health economics, education economics, competition, personnel economics, or innovation economics.

  The successful candidate must have a doctorate (Ph.D.) in economics or a related field, and demonstrate an excellent research record in applied microeconomics, strong teaching skills, and the ability to supervise theses at the Bachelor’s and Master’s level. The University of Fribourg is bilingual (French/German). Fluency in French is required and knowledge of German (oral level B1) is expected. If this is not the case, it must be acquired within two years of taking up the position.

  The position includes one 100% doctoral assistant. The University offers attractive working conditions and a competitive salary. The position is open rank, in accordance with University statutes.
