  • PhD Position in Public Economics

    At the Chair of Public Economics at the Department of Economics of the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences University of Fribourg, we seek applications for a 100% PhD position with responsibilities as a research and teaching assistant, for up to 4 years, starting around September 2026. We conduct empirically oriented research in public economics, including topics related to public finances, regulation, political governance, and corporate networks. The successful candidate will work in an active research environment with close interaction with other members of the research team and the department.

    Profile

    • Master’s degree in economics at the time of
    • Solid education in empirical (causal) methods is required; experience with Stata/R/Python is a strong asset.
    • Demonstrate interest in public economics (broadly defined) and a strong potential for independent, high-quality research.
    • Excellent written and oral English and working knowledge of oral English and working knowledge of French.
