Perceptual Networks
Visual perception continuously informs our thoughts and actions, and in turn we actively seek and select the visual information that we currently need. To better understand how information from the eyes is rapidly integrated into perceived objects, and how vision informs cognition and action, we take a dynamic network perspective on brain function.
We investigate the interactions between brain areas in vision and cognition using psychophysical experiments, EEG and directed functional connectivity analysis. We also investigate how elementary mechanisms afford interactions between cortical areas in sensory processes, using LFP data in animal models. And lastly, we have an interest in improving and validating the necessary EEG and connectivity methodologies.
