Transition rules for students who began their studies before autumn semester 2026

The Master "Digital Media and Communication for Social Impact" replaces the previous Master programme "Communication and Society". In general, students who started their studies before autumn semester 2026 can complete their studies according to their original study plan. However, since some individual courses are no longer offered in the old form, the following transitional rules apply, provided that these courses have not already been completed before autumn 2026:

  • Lecture "Business Communication" (old) = Lecture "Strategic Communication" (new)
  • Lecture "Comparing Media Structures" (old) = Lecture "Media and Platform Governance" (new)
  • Lecture "Klassiker revisited: Mythen, Pionierstudien, Schlüsselwerke" (old) = Lecture "Digital Journalism and Content Creation" (new)
  • Seminar with 6 ECTS seminar paper (old) = Project seminar with project report (new)
  • Seminar with 9 ECTS seminar paper (old) = Project seminar with project report + 3 ECTS in the module "Personalised Choice" (new)
  • Seminar without seminar paper (old) = 3 ECTS in the module "Personalised Choice" (new)
  • Exercise "Quantitative und Qualitative Datenanalyse" (old) = Exercise "Data Analytics & Visualisation" (new)
