Doc.Mobility
Doc.Mobility fellowships support doctoral students at the University of Fribourg in carrying out a research stay abroad during their PhD.
Applications must be submitted via the online form:

Eligibility
- Applicants must have been matriculated as doctoral students at Unifr for at least 12 months at the time of application
- Applicants must remain matriculated at Unifr for the entire duration of the stay
- Applicants must not be funded by the SNSF
- Recipients must return to Unifr to complete their PhD after the stay
Recipients employed as graduate assistants (assistant·e diplômé·e) must take unpaid leave for the entire duration of the funded stay.

Host institution
- The host institution must be different from the place of study and/or previous degree (Bachelor’s/Master’s)
- It must be different from any institution involved in a doctoral partnership or co-tutorship
- It must not be located in the applicant’s country of origin

Duration and timeline
- Duration: between 6 and 12 months
- The stay must begin no earlier than 3 months and no later than 9 months after the submission deadline
- The start date is always the first day of a month
- The end date is always the last day of a month

Funding amounts
- The grant amount depends on the destination and the applicant’s individual situation
- Rates and eligible costs are detailed in the official documentation
- Funding is not retroactive
- No additional funding can be requested after the grant has been awarded

Evaluation and decision
Applications are evaluated by the Research Promotion Committee. The Committee meets twice a year, usually in April and October.

Decisions are communicated in writing only. Applicants are notified no earlier than 2 months after the submission deadline.
The thesis supervisor at Unifr receives a copy of the decision.

Grant release
- The release of the grant must be requested via the online form
- Requests can be submitted no earlier than 30 days before the start of the stay
- Funds are transferred within 30 days to the beneficiary’s account

Project completion

A final report must be submitted no later than 6 weeks after the end of the project (via the online form)
