A fresh Graduate Campus for researchers at the University of Fribourg
The Graduate Campus at the University of Fribourg is growing. We are expanding our offer to better support you at different stages of your academic journey, whether you are completing a doctorate, pursuing postdoctoral research or supervising early career researchers.
One Graduate Campus, three communities
Our renewed Graduate Campus now serves three communities: doctoral candidates, postdocs and supervisors. Through practical resources, professional development opportunities and spaces for exchange, we want to help you navigate academic life, develop your career and connect with others across the University.
Doctoral candidates remain at the heart of what we do. If you are working towards a PhD, you will continue to find activities and resources tailored to your needs, now as part of an expanded offer.
We have also created two new branches dedicated to postdocs and supervisors. Our postdoc offer responds to the opportunities and challenges of this important career stage. Our supervisor offer is designed for thesis directors, principal investigators and others responsible for supporting doctoral candidates or postdoctoral researchers.
Our support for these three groups reflects our commitment to research as a shared endeavour.
Individual development matters, but so do good supervision, supportive working conditions and strong communities. We want the Graduate Campus to be a place where these different perspectives can meet.
New opportunities for postdocs
If you are a postdoc, we want to help you feel welcome, make your work more visible and support your professional development.
The semester began with Postdoc Appreciation Week, the first event of its kind in Switzerland. Spearheaded by the Graduate Campus Unifr, the week celebrated the vital contribution postdocs make to research, innovation, teaching and academic life. Building on this first edition, we aim to establish Postdoc Appreciation Week as a recurring event in the years to come.
Looking ahead, newcomers can join our Postdoc Welcome Event to learn more about the services available at the University, meet fellow postdocs and start building connections within the Fribourg research community.

Writing, careers and networking
Our activities are organised around three closely connected areas:
- Writing: For PhD candidates, we offer time, structure and practical support to help you move your academic writing forward, from focused writing days to hands-on workshops. Our grant writing workshops equip postdocs with the skills and strategies needed to prepare successful grant proposals.
- Careers: Whether you are considering a future within or beyond academia, our activities and resources can help you explore your options, develop relevant skills and take your next steps.
- Networking: We create opportunities for you to meet peers, exchange experiences and build lasting connections across disciplines and career stages.
These areas reflect needs that many of us encounter throughout academic life. Our aim is not to prescribe a single path, but to give you the tools, space and connections you need to shape your own.
A new website and visual identity
Alongside the expanded offer, we have completely redesigned the Graduate Campus website and introduced a new visual identity. The new site is organised around our three communities, making it easier for you to find the information, resources and activities that are most relevant to you.
From a national initiative to a lasting commitment
The expansion of the Graduate Campus was initiated with support from the swissuniversities programme Promotion of Early-Career Researchers 2025–2028. The renewed offer is also supported by the University of Fribourg. This support allows us to build on the project over the long term and make its services an integral part of the University’s commitment to early career researchers and their supervisors.
