Biografie

Daniel Dukes holds a PhD in humanities and social sciences, a Master's degree in psychology and a Master's degree in economic and social history. His work focuses on affective relationships, and more specifically on affective social learning. Motivated by more than ten years of professional practice in special education, his main questions concern how the knowledge and values of an individual (e.g., child, or student) can be acquired from the affective expressions and relationships of others (e.g., parent, or teacher). He has also studied interest as an emotion and, in particular, how someone else's interest in an object can influence us. Daniel has received SNSF funding for academic stays at UC Berkeley (USA), Amsterdam (NL) and Oxford (UK), and is co-editor of two books: Foundations of Affective Social Learning (Cambridge University Press) and The Oxford handbook of emotional development (Oxford University Press). He has recently been appointed co-editor of the Emotion and Social Interaction Series at Cambridge University Press.
