Henri Bernard de Diesbach (1880-1970) served as Professor of Inorganic and later Organic Chemistry at the University of Fribourg from 1920 to 1955. A distinguished chemist and academic leader, he also held leadership roles in Swiss chemical societies and contributed to the development of scientific education and research in Fribourg. His legacy of scientific rigor, academic integrity and public service inspires this lecture series in his name.

The De Diesbach Lectures celebrate his lifelong dedication to science, education, and public service. Each lecture invites distinguished speakers to explore themes that reflect the spirit of Professor de Diesbach’s work; curiosity, integrity, and the pursuit of knowledge in service to society.
