It is with great sadness that we have learned of the death of our former Director, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Thomas Fleiner. The management and all current and former staff offer their sincere condolences to his family and loved ones. After the Foundation for Federal Cooperation transferred the Institute of Federalism to the University of Fribourg in 1983, Thomas Fleiner took over its management and expanded it until his retirement in 2008. Thanks to his great and courageous commitment, the Institute gained great recognition both in Switzerland and abroad. The Institute still benefits today from the work of its founding director. We will honour Thomas' memory.
