From the 10^th to the 12^th of October 2022, the Institute of Federalism had the pleasure to host the Hanns Seidel Foundation Delegation. The Foundation is involved in international and development cooperation and is active in around 80 projects in more than 50 countries. Their goal is to promote decent living conditions and contribute to sustainable development by enhancing peace, democracy, rule of law and social market economies. The Hanns Seidel Foundation is one of the privileged partners of the Institute of Federalism.

Mayors and senior officials at municipal level from South Africa, Pakistan, Colombia, Myanmar, Venezuela and Nepal were welcomed to our Institute to discuss local governance in Switzerland. Participants had the chance to both learn from the Swiss example as well as to share their experience with others local politicians like the Mayor of Fribourg or delegates from surrounding municipalities. The Delegation also visited the Gruyères Castle and the House of Cantons, in Bern, to conclude this experience in Switzerland.
