Human Rights History and Gender Justice

Human rights have a history. They have evolved as an answer to specific problems in the past. And they are the achievement of social struggles and protest movements. Historical research asks about changing rules and normative thinking in the past. Areas of research are the social, legal and political dealing with the past and victims of human rights past abuses, the history of transitional justice, the development and extension of new standards in the context of globalization and the history of transnational feminism.
