Description This course will not be streamed.
Migrants form the most vulnerable part of our society and often have a precarious status. Human rights as a minimum standard play an important role for the protection of their rights. Very often, ethical questions also arise in the context of migration, for example whether one should save people from drowning in the sea or whether racial profiling or the ritual slaughtering of animals shall be permitted (just to name a few).
The course will analyze different human rights in the context of migration. A main focus will lie on the discussion of current legal issues in the light of recent case-law of the European Court of Human Rights and other international instances.
Objectifs de formation The aim of the course is to familiarize with the most important human rights, landmark judgments and ongoing debates in the area of migration, also from an ethical point-of-view.
Description des examens Oral exam (15 minutes, no preparation, closed book).
The exam consists of a small case with questions.
Commentaire The course is open to students following the programme "Ethique+ / Ethik+".
It also counts as a regular semester course for students enrolled with the Faculty of Law.
