Public lecture as part of a search committee for a professor in General Surgery.
Summary: Peritoneal metastases (PM) of digestive cancers impulsed a new chapter in surgical oncology. Since my beginnings in PM, I worked in a center with a large volume of cases and an associated research institute in the campus. Taking advantage of these facilities, I structured my research activity in 3 pillars:
1) Clinical approach : options should be delivered for both curative and palliative intent. In this chapter, I will detail my contributions to the development of PIPAC.
2) Translational approach: together with INSERM 1194 to which I am associated, we developed an animal model of mice with PM of colorectal origin and tumoroids.
3) Community approach: one of the predicaments for advancing the field of PM is the absence of international trials. In this chapter, I will discuss the creation of an international platform PERMITT to facilitate these multinational initiatives.
