Ernst Christoph Suttner taught patrology and Eastern Church studies at the Catholic Theological Faculty in Vienna from 1975 to 2002. When he moved to Würzburg in 2011, he donated his research library on the Eastern Churches to the Institute for Ecumenical Studies at the University of Fribourg. The Research Centre for the Eastern Churches owes him and his publications many valuable insights and suggestions. Four of his books have been published in the series "Studia Oecumenica Friburgensia".
